On the occasion of the celebration of the 205th Anniversary of the Independence of Mexico, the Embassy of Mexico in Korea hosted two celebratory events in Seoul on Sept. 15, 2015.
One of them was the diplomatic reception and the other was the reception for the Mexican community. Details follow:
Diplomatic Reception: The official reception was hosted by Ambassador of Mexico in Seoul, which was attended by more than 200 representatives from the Diplomatic Corps, the Korean government as well as entrepreneurs, academics and other relevant members of the Korean society, who actively contribute to the development of the bilateral relations.

During his intervention, Ambassador Bernal recalled the most significant milestones achieved by the Mexican nation and highlighted the major recent successes of the Mexico-Korea friendship that this year celebrates 53 years of continuous diplomatic relations and ten years of our government’s decision to launch a Strategic Partnership.
On behalf of the Korean government, the Deputy Minister Lee Tae-Ho for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed a congratulatory message to the people and government of Mexico.
Reception for the Mexican community in Seoul: Approximately 300 members of the Mexican community in South Korea attended a a reception to commemorate the 205th anniversary of the Mexican Independence. During the event, Mexican Ambassador Jos? Luis Bernal reenacted the traditional “Grito de Independencia” (Independence Cry), and invited the attendees to pay honors to the Mexican flag and the national symbols of Mexico.
At the conclusion of the formal proceedings, the Mexican community enjoyed a traditional Fiesta with music of Seoul-based Mariachi Latin.
Attendees for both events enjoyed an excellence selection of drinks and Mexican dishes prepared by Mexican Chef Raul Martinez who was visiting Seoul for the Food Festival "The flavors of Mexico" conducted at the Grand Hyatt Hotel from September 16 to 25.
