In a 17-day run

The World Inspect Expo Yecheon 2016 drew a total of 620,000 visitors in the 17-day run through August 16, 2016. In a special statement issued on this occasion, Mayor Lee Hyun-joon of the Yecheon County said, “Attendance of Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn at the opening ceremony and the full support given us by Governor Kim Kwan-yong of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Province were a great help in the promotion and development of the insect industry in the Yecheon County.” Excerpts from his special statement follow:

The World Insect Expo Yecheon 2016, where the warmth of the participants was even higher than the sizzling heat of the August sun that heated up the Yecheon County, finally came to a close after a 17-day run with a total attendance of 620,000 persons from all parts of the world as well as from Korea.

At this time, I would like to express my profound gratitude to all the former residents of Yecheon who have revisited the Yecheon County after their departure from their homes here to Seoul, Busan, Daegu and various other counties for the love of their home county. I do so with a promise that I will do everything I can for the rebirth of the county as the location of the new office building of the Provincial Government.
Again, I express my humble gratitude to all the visitors to our County from the sister cities of Gunpo and Mapo and various other localities of the country and from around the world.
My heart-felt gratitude goes also to all the volunteer workers who worked in a dedicated manner temporarily giving up all their bread-and-butter jobs. My sincere thanks also go to all the members of the Republic of Korea Navy and all the other branches of the Republic of Korea Armed Forces as well as to the donors and other supporters who have made such generous donations. I am so grateful to them all.
Thanks to all such warm support and participation, the World Insect Expo Yecheon 2016 has opened a new chapter in the insect industry in Korea and the outside world.
Attendance of Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn at the opening ceremony of the Insect Expo and the full support given us by Governor Kim Kwan-yong of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Province were a great help in the promotion and development of the insect industry in the Yecheon County.
Now we are going to prepare an overall development plan of the insect industry in our county and concentrate our efforts so that it will perform the role of a locomotive for the development of our county and increase of the revenue of our local population.

The population of the Yecheon County has recorded an increase for the first time in over 50 years, which signals the beginning of the rebirth of our county. I pledge my best effort to win the support of the entire population of the 50,000 citizens of the County and the 400,000 fellow county people now living outside the county.
Once again, I would like to express my profound gratitude to all the visitors to our Expo sites who favored us with their kind attendance despite their busy schedule.
I would also like to pray and express my humble wish that to all the kind-hearted persons there be everlasting happiness and best of luck. Thank you.
