Invitation to the Grand Memorial Prayer Service for the Victims of the Korean War at Jogye Temple Seoul

Your Excellency:

I am pleased to inform Your Excellency that His Eminence the Most Venerable Jinje Beobwon (the Supreme Patriarch of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism) and the Most Venerable Jaseung (the President of the Jogye Order and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the World Peace Grand Prayer Service for the Victims of the Korean War), cordially invite Your Excellency and Madam, to the above Grand Memorial and Grand Parayer Meeting at the Grand Head Temple of the Korean Buddhist Jogye Order at Gyeonji-dong, Seoul on at 10 a.m. Sunday May 17, 2015.

For details please visit: /news/view.html?section=162&category=182&no=942

I am very apologetic about the very short notice. However, I believe that it is a very important meeting in that it is also a memorial service for the victims of all the countries that took part in the Korean War, especially the 16 member nations of the United Nations Forces.

Famed Buddhist leaders of many different countries are attending the Memorial and Prayer Service as well as noted personalities of the government and all other segments of Korean society and the world.

The Grand Buddhist Service is also in marking the 70th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation on August 15, 1945.

Time/date: 10 a.m. Sunday 17 May 2015

Place: The Grand Head Temple of the Korean Buddhist Jogye Order at Gyeonji-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul (see attached location map)

Schedule of the day is as follows:

1000 hours, 17 May 2015: Meet at the Grand Head Temple of the Korean Buddhist Jogye Order in Jongno, Seoul (see map)

1030-1130 hours: Memorial prayer service for the victims of all the countries during the Korean War, including North Korean soldiers

1130-1300 hours: Buddhist Luncheon hosted by Venerable Jaseung, Chairman of the Organizing Committee.

1300-1600 hours: Tour of the Grand Head Temple of the Korean Buddhist Jogye Order

(A slight change could occur to the schedule depending on the traffic situation of the day.)

Very Respectfully Yours

Lee Kyung-sik

Busy God

In the cafeteria of a Catholic school, the children were lined up for lunch. There was a large pile of apples.

The nun made a note and placed it in front of the apples. It read: “Take only one, God is watching.”

Further down the line was a large pile of chocolate cookies. One of the boys had written a note of his own and placed it in front of the cookies.

It read: “Take all you want, God is now watching the apples.”
