Today’s humor:

Humor from a generous former Asian ambassador

Tragedy at blind date

I had a blind date last night.

But I was concerned --

What do I do if she's really unattractive?

I'll be stuck with her all night? ((

Turns out, there is an app for that:

It's called "Mom Are You Ok".

It schedules your phone to ring just after you meet her.

If you like her, you ignore it.

If you want to cut short the date, you answer with,

"Mom? What's the matter?

Are you okay?"

It works every time.

So I knocked on the girl's door.

Turns out, I needn't have worried.

She was gorgeous!

I couldn't get over how attractive she was!!

Just as I was about to speak to her, her phone rang!!!

She answered it and said, "Mom, what's the matter?

Are you okay?"!!!!!!!!!!

Religious Studies

It was George’s first year of religious studies at his school.

Now the six-year-old boy already began to have his own opinion about what was being taught by his teacher.

When told, “God made everything,” George quickly stood up and insisted, “You are wrong. God does not make everything. Most things we use are made in China.”

WHO urges more communities to prepare for possible spread of MERS

A joint South Korea/World Health Organization (WHO) assessment team criticized the South Korean government for compromising early quarantine measures for the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) with its delays in releasing information. It also stressed the need for local communities to prepare for a possible spread, despite no evidence of infection there to date.

Samsung Medical Center to partially close, but is it too little too late?

On June 14, Samsung Medical Center acknowledged the failure of its efforts to contain the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and took measures to partially close its facilities, but Samsung Medical Center is being criticized for shutting the barn doors after the cows have been stolen. .

MERS deaths and infections now coming up among younger people

The Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) situation is taking a disturbing new turn with the death of a 62-year-old patient with no history of chronic illness, and new cases reported among younger patients in their thirties and twenties. The fatality rate climbed into the double digits with the deaths of several patients over the weekend. .

[Reporter’s notebook] Why the Korean public has to learn their president’s views through the foreign press

There’s a reason President Park Geun-hye avoids press conferences like the plague, and the South Korean public is well aware of what it is. As she approaches the midpoint of her five-year term, she has held exactly two press conferences in which she has answered questions from reporters. The number may be the lowest for any President in South Korean history apart from Rhee Syng-man, Yun Bo-son, or Choi Kyu-ha. No South Korean news outlet has yet done a one-on-one interview with Park. .

Government votes for the first time to decommission a nuclear power facility

The South Korean government has begun the first decommissioning of a nuclear power generating facility in history with its recommendation to permanently shut down a power plant that first went into commercial operation 37 years ago. With the closure now set to become a reality, a serious debate is likely to ensue over the fate of the spent nuclear fuel and the permanent disposal of the plant’s waste, along with safety concerns, decommissioning costs, and various hidden social and economic consequences. During a June 12 meeting at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul’s Sogong neighborhood presided by Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Yoon Sang-jick, the National Energy Council (NEC) voted to recommend that operator Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) decommission the No. 1 reactor at Kori Nuclear Power Plant. .

Seoul mayor rising in polls after lambasting government over MERS

After Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon lambasted South Korea’s central government for its inadequate response to the outbreak of MERS, short for Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, and announced the Seoul Metropolitan Government would be taking aggressive countermeasures, he was found to be the frontrunner in a poll asking voters about their preferences in the next presidential election. .

Pres. Park and Obama speak by phone about rescheduling summit

President Park Geun-hye and US President Barack Obama spoke on the phone on June 12 to discuss follow-up measures to the summit that was delayed because of the outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) in South Korea. Interestingly, the conversation included a pointed reference to South Korea’s announcement the previous day that it was cutting its goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
