LG Electronics has launched a campaign to fight hunger by using its large electronic display board at Times Square in New York, the company said on Oct. 18.

LG Electronics posted a promotional video on the Times Square billboard for three days from Oct. 15 to commemorate the "World Food Day" designated by the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The video was produced by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and contains a message that many people should work with interest to end hunger.

LG Electronics has been operating a "LG Hope Screen" program since 2011 that allows international organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to show public interest videos on LG Electronics' display boards in New York and London, the U.K.

Various organizations have so far informed public interest messages such as World Environment Day, Korea's World Heritage Site, Disaster Relief and the U.N. General Assembly through the LG Hope Screen.

LG Electronics expects such social contribution programs to raise common awareness of various social issues, including the environment and culture.
