She had a total of 18 years of experience in the field of CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/computer aided manufacturing), and has been working with CEO Kang Jung-ho of the MINISH Dental Hospital for the past 10 years. The CAD/CAM system was introduced to Korea about 15 years ago. Here are excerpts from an interview with Director Jung:
Question: You have been using the CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing) system at the MINISH Dental Hospital. What are your distinguishing features in his area compared with other hospitals?
Answer: CAD/CAM does a lot of work. We consult and communicate with our patents with an aim to provide with the best quality of service. We also converse and communication with the patients through the medium of images because harmony and balance between the face and teeth are very important.
Then, too, we make analysis of the image of the face of the person when he/she makes a smile.
Through the use of photo images and scanned data, we are providing the best teeth for the patients and in this effort it is most important for us to do the work insuring the maximum extent of harmony with the facial features so that all the different aspects of the face will blend with one another in harmony to enhance the beauty of the face as well as the teeth. It is very important how the teeth look when one smiles.
Our work is not limited to the adjustment of the teeth. In our performance the orthodontic work, the objective view of the performer is also reflected. All the same, the work must be done in an objective manner and therefore photographs and mobile phone applications are also consulted.
Also, the desire on the part of the clients and their recommendations are reflected in our work. The clients can choose the type of work they desire through the use of applications (design software).
Q: What are your vision and plans of further development of your hospital?
A: CEO Kang and I have been working through close cooperation and coordination which are greatly contributing to the growth and development of the Hospital. However, we are not satisfied with the already achieved accomplishments. Through close consultation and cor4dination with CEO Kang, we are continuously seeking ways and means to further develop the Hospital.
Q: We hear that most of the work for the patients is done within a day. Please present you present status.
A: The work is done not by one person but in plural in close cooperation and coordination with a number of others, including helpers.
We work mostly in a team of five persons with one leader and four supporters. There are a total of 15 persons working at the dental laboratory. We are planning to increase the number of our members to meet in increasing volume of work. In order to insure the top standard of quality of our work we have put a limit on the number of clientele to 45 persons a day.
Q: What is the demanding work skill required at your workshop?
A: There are two very important requirements that must be met. They are accuracy and beauty of the teeth. Of the two factors, beauty of the teeth is very important and for this aim we do our level best to meet the satisfaction on the part of our clientele to the maximum possible extent. The work is done by the hands of the performer and maximum extent of attention is given to the work to meet the satisfaction of the clients. The technicians must have at least one full year’s experience. However, in order to insure the desired quality of work, it takes at least three years of experience.
Q: We hear that you are using reinforced ceramic (Minish block), which we understand have many advantages over other materials used elsewhere.
Please introduce the strong points of the materials used.
A: Ceramics are very materials for which special attention must be paid because ceramics are broken easily and special care and attention must be made to insure successful work performance.
Q: What are your future plans?
A: We are trying to train as many Minish men as possible and we also wish to disseminate information about us far and wide to all parts of the world. We plan to expand our work to other countries in the world.
