The International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK) said on Aug. 13 that former Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Park Sun-ho was elected as the 19th standing chairman of ICAK at an extraordinary general meeting held on Aug. 12.
The new chairman entered public office in 1989 and served as the first vice minister in charge of overseas construction and a spokesperson for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the head of the housing and land office, and the head of the city office.
During his term as a civil servant, he was dispatched to the OECD headquarters, the U.S. Federal Department of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Chairman Park said in his acceptance speech, "I feel a heavy responsibility to be the head of the overseas construction association at a time when Korea’s overseas construction industry is facing serious difficulties such as restrictions on winning orders due to the COVID-19 pandemics."
He continued to say, "We will do our best to strengthen the competitiveness of our overseas construction companies and expand the receipt of orders in the ever-increasing global market," he said.
