Kim pledges to make Daedeok Special Zone a leading model for national innovative growth

President Kim Jang-seong of Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB) was appointed as the 18th chairman of the Daedeok R&D Special Zone Heads' Council.

According to the KRIBB on Sept. 8, the council appointed Kim Jang-seong as its new chairman at an extraordinary general meeting held at the Daejeon Convention Center on Sept. 7. Chairman Kim's term of office will be two years from this month.

The new chairman Kim graduated from Seoul National University's Department of Agricultural Biology and obtained a master's degree in biochemistry and a doctorate in tumor biology from KAIST.

After serving as vice president, he has been leading the KRIBB since 2018 by serving a second term as the 13th to 14th president.

Kim Jang-seong, the new chairman of the council, said, "We will do our best to serve as a stepping stone for national and regional development so that Daedeok Special Zone can be transformed into a leading model for national innovative growth."
