Attended by Yongsan-gu Mayor Sung Jang-hyun and Amb. Ramzi Teymurov of Azerbaijan

Ambassador Ramzi Teymurov of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Seoul and Yongsan-gu Mayor Sung Jang-hyun attended a tree-planting event to commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea and Azerbaijan at the Singye History Park on May 12.

Organized by the Azerbaijan Embassy, the event was held for 30 minutes in order of congratulatory speeches, sign installation, and commemorative tree planting, with more than 20 guests, including Azerbaijan Embassy staff, and Yongsan-gu Office officials, in attendance.

Diplomatic relations between Korea and Azerbaijan began in 1992 and Korean companies have been actively participating in Azerbaijan's economic projects for 30 years.

In 2019, Mayor Sung received the "Korea-Azerbaijan Friendship Achievement Award" in recognition of his continued cultural and artistic exchanges, such as supporting various Azerbaijan events.

"We look forward to building a deeper friendship with Azerbaijan, which signed a friendly exchange agreement with Yongsan-gu in 2017," said Mayor Sung.
