Former Chairman Kim Jong-in of the People Power Party (PPP) Emergency Measure Committee selected Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon as the only person to make a forthright statement to President Yoon Suk-yeol.
Former Chairman Kim also said, "Minister Han can catch a stellar moment (which suggests Presidency) depending on how he is reflected in the eyes of the people in the future."
Speaking on CBS Radio's 'Single-round' on June 8, former Chairman Kim said, "In my view, (President Yoon) is in a state of ecstasy. Because the sun is always above the clouds, he thinks that anything is possible. So, he needs to get out of that environment quickly, so he can carry out normal policies.”
On the question “Who can pull President Yoon down and bring him under the clouds,” former Chairman Kim picked Minister Han.
“Less than 1% of ministers or advisers say, ‘You shouldn’t do that’ to the President,” said former Chairman Kim, adding “From what I’ve heard, Minister Han went against his superiors when he was a prosecutor during the investigation process and did not accept their request at all, no matter what his superiors said.
When asked, “Do you think Minister Han can play such a (bitter) role?” former Chairman Kim replied, “Minister Han can do it.”
Former Chairman Kim also mentioned the possibility of Minister Han Dong-hoon's challenge to the Presidency.
When asked if the moment of the star would come later, Kim said, "When Han serves as the minister of justice, he can catch the moment of the star depending on how he is seen in the public."
However, Kim advised, "Han should not emphasize overly what he used to being a prosecutor.
Former Chairman Kim had previously predicted the possibility of the then Prosecutor General Yoon Suk-yeol running for the Presidential election in January last year, saying, "It seems that the moment of the star is approaching."
Kim has given a good assessment of the appointment of Minister Han Dong-hoon as the minister of justice, noting “There are no proper figures except Han. The rest are people we have experienced in the past. Han is the sole minister in his 40s.”
Kim added, “I earlier said that it is desirable for people born since the 1970s to run the country to adapt to the changes of the times. In that regard, Minister Han seems to be the freshest.”
