Pernod Ricard Korea, the Korean unit of the global wine and spirits company Pernod Ricard, offers its Bar World of Tomorrow professional training to members of the Millennial and Gen Z generations age 19 or older in an effort to build a culture of sustainability across the entire hospitality industry.

Training will be carried out at Jeonju University on Nov. 18 on the theme of sustainable bartending. This will be the third time this year that the company has provided the training program to university students. Students aged 19 or over from the departments of Tourism Management and Food Service & Culinary Arts at Jeonju University who participate will be given an opportunity to learn about the concept of sustainability and ways to practice it across relevant industries.

The Bar World of Tomorrow by Pernod Ricard Korea is one of the Pernod Ricard Group’s key global training programs aimed at achieving its goals of environmental conservation and sustainable management. The program will offer Millennials and members of Gen Z who show a keen interest in the environment and our shared future an opportunity to learn about the concept of sustainability and develop ideas for pursuing it.

The training program has been operated for bartenders and bar owners involved in related industries. Members of the first through seventh classes have completed the course so far. The company has expanded the training to include young adults in their 20s majoring in relevant studies. Students focusing on hotel and food service and culinary arts studies at Dongseo University in Busan and Kookje University in Suwon participated in the training in April and May of this year.

Through the program, Pernod Ricard Korea aims to help build a culture of sustainability across the hospitality industry by educating people on the concept of sustainability, ways to operate bars in a sustainable manner, the importance of responsible drinking, and ways to practice it.

CEO Frantz Hotton of Pernod Ricard Korea noted, “This training is deeply meaningful in that we come together with the university students who will lead the future of our industry to think and discuss about building a better future. Pernod Ricard Korea will continue to strengthen its cooperation with its partners in the hotel and bar industry as well as with universities to further expand the Bar World of Tomorrow training.”

Meanwhile, Pernod Ricard Group has published its 2030 Sustainability and Responsibility roadmap ‘Good Times from a Good Place’ and has been striving to remain sustainable and responsible in every step along its journey - from grain to glass. In line with this roadmap, Pernod Ricard Korea announced a plan in August to replace all of its corporate vehicles with eco-friendly mobility in an effort to reduce carbon emissions. The company is also making a range of other efforts, including the use of recyclable, reusable, and biodegradable materials for all of its marketing and promotion items.
