The county plans to provide unforgettable memories to tourists visiting the festival

The temperature of some parts of Gangwon-do Province have fallen by minus 13 degrees Celsius, and Hwacheon-gun County is preparing for next month's Sancheoneo Ice Festival amid the cold wave.

On the morning of December 2, the lowest temperature in Hwacheon is minus 11 degrees, the ice thickness of the Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival ice fishing site was 5cm.

This is a day earlier than two years ago, when the first ice was frozen, and festival officials, who have been worried about the warm weather, are predicting the success of the festival.

Hwacheon-gun County is quickly preparing for the festival to provide love, emotion, and unforgettable memories to tourists visiting the Sancheoneo Ice Festival, which will open on January 7.

Ahead of the lighting ceremony on Seondeung Street, which marks the start of the festival on Jan. 24, Sancheoneo lights are hanging in every alley in the city, raising the atmosphere to the fullest.

Following the pre-ceremony performance, major guests will move to the special stage to light up 25,000 Sancheoneo lanterns on the streets of the city, including Seondeung Street.

The lighting ceremony is expected to be a street party where tourists and residents hang out together as a huge echo that signals the start of the Sancheoneo Ice Festival beyond the ceremony.

At the world's largest indoor ice sculpture plaza, which will open in time for the lighting ceremony, 26 Chinese Harbin ice lantern engineers are currently in the process of making ice sculptures.

More than 30 works, including a Chinese garden, a large Korean flag, an ice hotel, an ice bar, and world-famous buildings, will be presented at the Ice Sculpture Square with beautiful light.

In particular, in order to secure the stability of the festival venue, it is focusing on creating a foundation such as environmental maintenance and installation of safety boundary fences.

Governor Choi Moon-soon of Hwacheon-gun said, "Just as no matter how good a product is, it fails if it fails to satisfy customers, and a festival cannot grow if it does not satisfy visitors. We put priority of the Sancheoneo Ice Festival on the safety of visitors.”
