President Yoon meets with SME leaders following his state visit to UAE
President Yoon Suk-yeol hosted a meeting with businesspeople from small and medium-sized enterprises to discuss about achievements of his state visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Feb. 24 at the presidential office in Seoul.
Calling himself "The Republic of Korea's No. 1 salesperson," President Yoon promised that he would invite leaders of small and medium-sized enterprises, venture companies and startups to join him on future state visits so that these domestic companies can have outstanding achievements in the global market.
At the meeting with 40 businesspeople who were part of the economic mission during his state visit to the UAE last month, the president said, "Small and medium-sized enterprises, venture companies and startups account for 40% of our export activity, including direct and indirect exports."
"The government will support those companies so that innovative technologies created out of sweat and passion can develop new markets and walk toward a bigger world," he added.
After the event, the presidential office announced that it will actively work on realizing the achievements of the state visit.
It plans to establish a Global Business Center in Dubai in March via expanding and reorganizing an existing export incubator to provide local support for finance facilitation, venture capital investment promotion, certificate acquisition and the search for buyers.
Along with the road map, the government will cooperate with media companies in the UAE to support Korea's participation in various exhibitions and fairs, including dispatching trade delegations comprised of small and medium-sized business owners.
