To demonstrate eco-friendly gypsum manufacturing technology that recycles by-products of semiconductor production processes

Korea Recycled Materials (Co-CEOs Park Byung-hoon, Seo Dong-hyun) and environmental and energy companies SK Ecoplant signed a joint research MOU on March 16, 2023, to demonstrate eco-friendly gypsum manufacturing technology that recycles by-products of semiconductor production processes.

Korea Recycled Materials was selected as an excellent company in the eco-friendly field for related patented technology at the Contech Meet-Up Day ceremony, a technology contest for small and medium-sized companies and startups held at SK Ecoplant on November 21, 2022.

Under the agreement, Korea Recycled Materials and SK Ecoplant will carry out pilot projects to recycle semiconductor by-products into gypsum, a major material of construction materials, and jointly carry out research and development necessary for all stages of commercialization.

Through this joint study, the two companies expect to lay the foundation for the commercialization of this patented technology that recycles semiconductor by-products and contribute to stabilizing resources through recycling in the domestic gypsum market, which was highly dependent on imports.

Park Byung-hoon and Seo Dong-hyun, co-CEOs of Korea Recycled Materials, said, "Through this collaboration with SK Ecoplant, which leads the environmental and renewable energy business, we will do our best to help commercialize the waste sulfur recycling innovation technology."

Kim Jung-hoon and Song Hyo-joon, executives in charge of SK Ecoplant, said, "As the development of recycling technology as construction materials using semiconductor production by-products is a meaningful study to realize circular economic value, we will actively cooperate in technology verification and joint technology development in the future."

In addition, Korea Recycled Materials is seeking to secure a business site for this study and promised to continue its efforts for the development of the region by completing eco-friendly production facilities.
