Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok "Today's peace is due to the noble dedication of our heroes"

Incheon Metropolitan City (Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok) announced that it held a commemorative ceremony at City Hall on June 25 to mark the 73rd anniversary of the Korean War.

More than 400 people attended the ceremony, including Incheon Mayor Yoo Jung-bok, Kang Yong-hee, president of the Incheon branch of the Korean War Veterans Association, Kim Hyun-saint, president of the Incheon Student Veterans Association, leaders of 13 veterans' organizations, 6.25 veterans, local figures, and unit commanders.

The ceremony was held under the theme of "Honor and Appreciation for Great Commitment" to remember the sacrificial spirit of the veterans who served the country during the Korean War, and to express respect and gratitude to the veterans of the Korean War who grew the Republic of Korea from the ruins of the war.

The ceremony consisted of an overview of the Korean War by the Army's 17th Infantry Division, the presentation of certificates of commendation to veterans, commemorative speeches, a performance dedicated to the heroes of the Korean War, and the singing of the Song of June 25.

"It's been 73 years since the war broke out, but I felt grateful that they didn't forget and remember," said a Korean War veteran who attended the event.

Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok said, "The peace we enjoy today is a precious gift earned through the noble dedication and sacrifice of national heroes like the 330 people who attended the event, and we have a responsibility to strive to present a better future to our descendants."

"Incheon will continue to identify and promote various policies such as raising the veterans' allowance in line with the dignity of the city, operating the Incheon National Veterans' Bongandam, building the Integrated Veterans' Center, and upgrading the Incheon Landing Event to a national-level event."
