Omani Embassy hosts Open House

Ambassador Mohamed Al Harthy hosted an ‘Open House of the Embassy of Oman’ in Seoul on Aug. 30, 2013 to introduce the culture and various other aspects of Oman.

Some 50 Korean Seoul citizens attended the event, mostly students, and looked around at the Embassy viewing the artifacts and other cultural exhibits on display.

The visitors also had traditional Omani refreshments and beverage.

The Omani Embassy has been selected due to its unique architecture among many cultural sites in Seoul as a part of the 6th Seoul Open Week organized by Seoul Metropolitan city. This is the second time for the embassy to open its doors to the public since last year for 5th Seoul Open House.

Ambassador Al Harthy greeted the citizens and gave welcome remarks. He said: “ The Open House program is a good initiative, which is held thanks to the support of the Seoul Metropolitan City Government for organizing this program. It’s a good opportunity for better understanding and cultural exchange.” He then gave a brief introduction about Oman and relationship between Korea and Oman.

The embassy prepared a tour program to the citizens for the main area of the embassy including the first and second floors of the embassy. They had a chance to experience Omani traditional culture during the tour and enjoyed to see the displayed Omani traditional arts and craft at the reception hall. The citizens enjoyed Omani coffee, dates, halwa , smell of frankincense which resembles Omani hospitality.
