Peru celebrates National Day

Ambassador and Mrs. Jaime Pomareda of the Republic of Peru hosted a reception at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul on July 29, 2013 to celebrate the National Day of the Republic of Peru.

There were many distinguished guests from Korean society and from the Seoul Diplomatic Corps and other segments of foreign community in Korea.

Among the Korean guests were Deputy Minister Ahn Chong-ghee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Economic Affairs and Publisher-Chairman Lee Kyung-sik of The Korea Post.

Attendance from the SDC and other segments of foreign community was also very large, who included Ambassadors Vitali V. Fen of Uzbekistan, Hernan Brantes Glavic of Chile, Grecia Fiodalicia Pichardo of Dominican Republic, Nicolas Fabian Trujillo Newlin of Ecuador, Dionisios Sourvanos of Greece, John A. Prasetio of Indonesia, Ngovi Kitau of Kenya, Jose Luis Bernal Rodriguez of Mexico, Kaman Singh Lama of Nepal, Bill Veri of Papua New Guinea, Peter Tan Hai Chuan of Singapore, Mohamed Ali Nafti of Tunisia, Vasyl Marmazov of Ukraine and Yadira Hidalgo de Ortiz of Venezuela (CDA).

Speaking to the guests, Ambassador Jaime Pomareda of the Republic of Peru said: “On July 28, 1821, Peru proclaimed its independence and, since that moment on, Peru became a free country, ready to participate and to get involved in the international society. The independence marked the beginning of a new era of the history of Peru.

“It has passed 192 years of that historical moment and we celebrate this anniversary with pride for what we have achieved as an independent Republic, and also with hope for what we still need to attain in order to offer the best to our people.”
