Kazakhstan and South Korea agree to boost number of permits fourfold for flights between countries

The respective aviation authorities of Kazakhstan and South Korea agreed to increase the number of weekly flights permitted between the countries fourfold from 10 to 42.

According to Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan, the parties reached the agreement during bilateral negotiations in Almaty that were attended by Saltanat Tompiyeva, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Kim Yeong Kook, Director General for Aviation Policy of the Republic of Korea.

The parties have also reached an agreement on permission to operate 40 cargo flights per week, including using the fifth degree of “freedoms of air”.

During the negotiations, restrictions on destinations and the number of designated carriers were lifted, which should increase competition and expand the area of flights between countries.

The parties supported the intentions of air carriers to establish direct flights between the capitals of the two countries.
