President Moon Jae-in welcomed five new foreign envoys to Seoul at a ceremony held at Cheong Wa Dae on July 18, 2017.
The President was presented with the credentials of each of the foreign diplomats. They were Uzbekistani Ambassador Vitaly Fen, Mexican Ambassador Bruno Figueroa Fischer, Indonesian Ambassador Umar Hadi, Nepalese Ambassador Arjun Jung Bahadur Singh, and Pakistani Ambassador Rahim Hayat Qureshi.
Congratulating the newly appointed foreign envoys, the president said, "I ask that you act as a bridge between Korea and your respective countries so as to strengthen our relationships and to deepen our trust."
Ambassador Fen of Uzbekistan, in fact, begins his second term in Korea after 18 years of service in Korea as Uzbek envoy, during which Ambassador Fen served as the Dean of the Seoul Diplomatic Corps.
A second generation Korean descent in Uzbekistan, Ambassador Fen speaks impeccable Korean in the accent of the northeastern Hamgyeong Province in North Korea.
Coming from a noble family, Ambassador Fen is very well versed in Korean manners as well as speech, which are great assets in winning Korean friends in the leading circles of all segments of Korean society, especially the business world.
Mrs. Lyudmila Fen, also a Korean descent, is equally fluent in the Korean language and well versed in the Korean culture, which are great assets to the successful performance of duty as a foreign ambassador in Korea.
