From Asian Banking & Finance

The Citibank Korea Inc. (CEO Jin-Hei Park, www.citibank.co.kr) was awarded Mobile Banking Initiative of the Year for Korea on July 25, 2017 for its mobile app from the renowned Asian Banking & Finance magazine, host of the 2017 ABF Awards. An awardee was selected from each country in Asia.

Citibank Korea Inc. launched ‘NEW Citi Mobile App’ last year by combining its banking and card apps into a single app in December. The new app enabled customers to inquire their balances and view latest financial transactions without having to log in. It also allowed customers to process all banking and card transactions by logging in with their ID or fingerprint. All these functionalities were implemented for the first time in Korea.

“NEW Citi Mobile has met the ever-changing demands of today’s financial consumers and allowed customer to transfer money up to KRW5MM per day to one’s own accounts as well as to payees without any authentication beyond a login. Citi also implemented innovative services by going paperless. There is no need to visit branches for opening accounts, issuing check cards, and applying for Salaried Unsecured Personal Loan,” said a representative from Asian Banking & Finance, citing the reason for selection.

“This award is meaningful because it demonstrates customers’ trust in our app, and we are so grateful for that. We will continue to launch innovative services by harnessing new technology so that customers can transact in the best-in-class digital environment in an easy and convenient manner,” said Min-Kwon Kim, Head of Digital Banking at Citibank Korea Inc.
